According to 2011 statistics, the average time lapsed between landing and the moment the passengers left the airport was about 26 minutes and departure procedures also take up in average about 13 minutes which allows passengers to enjoy more leisure time before boarding.

2) Monthly Statistics Highlights

¡@
 

In 2011, Macau International Airport handled 38,946 aircraft movements and 4,045,014 passengers, it also processed 39,524 tonnes of freights and 218 tonnes of airmail.  Positive monthly growths were recorded for aircraft movements during the year except in February and November, so an annual rate of 5% was drawn.  Passengers dropped during the first five months of 2011 but traffic has been re-capturing since June, in term of annual growth, passengers only slightly decreased by 1%.  Air-freight of MFM was weakly performed in 2011 and registered a significant downturn of 24%.   

By December 2011, 17 carriers operated weekly flights in MFM, connecting Macau to 25 cities from Taiwan, China, the People ¡¦s Republic of China, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Republic of Korea and Japan.

In December, two charter routes were changed to schedule operation including Jinjiang by Xiamen Airlines and Wuxi by Shenzhen Airlines.  Furthermore, Korean carrier ¡V Easter Jet also operated weekly charter flights to/from Macau and Cheju.

Some 4,045,014 accumulated passengers were registered in 2011. Taiwan, China, accounted 1,425,576 passengers or 35% of the total.  Other Cities in China contributed 1,168,501 passengers, shared 29% of the total. Thailand accounted 11% of the total, with 443,259 passengers reported.  Malaysia and Singapore each represented 7% of the total passengers, with 299,446 and 288,260 passengers.  In term of annual growth, Other Cities in China (20%), Singapore (18%) and Thailand (7%) performed positively, whereas Taiwan, China (-13%) and Malaysia (-15%) dropped.

The five major cities during the year were: Taipei (1,085,237 passengers), Shanghai (461,012 passengers), Bangkok (434,773 passengers), Kaohsiung (340,108 passengers) and Kuala Lumpur (291,123 passengers) and all together contributed 64% of the total passenger volume in 2011. Ningbo and Laoag were cities that recorded the best annual growth rates since very few flights were operated for them during 2010.  Other destinations that performed positive annual growth against 2010 included : Clark (32%), Seoul (31%), Shanghai (20%), Singapore (18%), Xiamen (11%), Hangzhou (9%), Nanning  (8%), Kuala Lumpur (8%)  and Bangkok (5%).  Both Taipei (-11%) and Kaohsiung (-17%) from Taiwan, China marked significant slumps in their passengers 

The airport has processed 39,524 tonnes of throughput in 2011, Taiwan, China registered 71% of the total cargo throughput, with 28,094 tonnes of freights, in term of growth it decreased greatly by 20%.  Other Cities in China was responsible for 12% of the total, registering 4,743 tonnes of cargo but slumped by 20% against 2010.  Thailand reported 2,471 tonnes or 6% of total freights, decreased by 6%. Japan (881 tonnes) and Malaysia (856 tonnes) each contributed 2% of the total freights and fell respectively ly by 68% and 10% 

The five major cargo cities of year 2011 were Taipei (-19%), Bangkok (-6%), Shanghai (-41%), Kaohsiung (-36%) and Singapore (-10%), all showed considerable retreats.

The peak hours of MFM in 2011 were divided into two time slots.  The morning peak started from 11am to 2 pm, during which 26% aircraft movements, 29% of passengers and 31% of cargo were handled.  The next peak began from 4pm to 8pm. There were 26% of movements, 27% of passengers and 21% of cargo conducted during these four hours in each day of the year.

94% of the aircraft handled by MFM were narrow bodies.  Pure cargo freighters carried 19% of the total freights in 2011.  The most common aircraft in 2011 were Airbus 320 (34%), Airbus 319 (26%) and Airbus 321 (19%).

¡@ Macau International Airport has launched a new service called Express Link easily identifiable by the logo

With this seamless service, passengers arriving at MFM by air can simply continue their trip to Hong Kong by sea and China by land, through the Macau Ferry Terminal, Taipa Ferry Terminal or Border. They only need to take a transit bus available at the airside of the airport, without the need of any formalities from Immigration and Customs in Macau. On the other hand passengers departing from MFM can also enjoy the same convenient service if they arrive to Macau via the Ferry Terminal.
